- Is this a will?
- No, and it does not replace one. A will says who gets what, and it needs to be witnessed to be valid. This records where everything is, who to ring, and what has to happen in the first two weeks — the part a will never covers and the part executors struggle with most. The two sit alongside each other.
- Do I have to give you my passwords?
- Never. The folder records where things are found, not what they are. Passwords, PINs, tax file numbers, card numbers, Medicare numbers and crypto seed phrases are refused if you try to enter them — the field rejects the input and explains why.
- What happens to my answers?
- They are deleted six months after your last update, automatically, on a nightly schedule. Update something and the clock resets. The folder you have downloaded stays yours regardless.
- What does it cost?
- Filling it in is free, and you can answer as much or as little as you like. Building it into a folder costs A$49 once, which includes six months of edits and rebuilding it as often as you want.
- Can I fill it in for my mum or dad?
- Yes. The first question asks who you are filling it in for, and every question rewords itself accordingly. Many people do this sitting next to a parent rather than instead of them.
- Do I need to do it all at once?
- No. It saves as you go and you can close the tab whenever you like. Most people do it across two or three sittings, and the super section usually sends them off to check something.
- Is this financial or legal advice?
- No. It is deliberately navigation rather than advice — it will tell you to check whether a binding nomination exists, but never whether to make one or who to name. Those decisions belong with your super fund, a licensed adviser, a solicitor or your state’s Public Trustee.
- Where is my information stored?
- In Sydney, encrypted in transit and at rest. It is never sold or shared — not with insurers, not with funeral providers, not with anyone.
